Child Care Center
The Shattuck Child Care Center, located on the hospital
grounds, provides an educational and social environment which is
both stimulating and satisfying for children between the ages of 15
months and six years. Licensed by the Massachusetts Office for Child
Care Services for the care of 33 children, the center is staffed by
two directors and six full-time OCCS qualified lead teachers. The
Child Care Center offers a variety of group and individual
experiences and activities designed to encourage a better
understanding of self and the world through academic, scientific,
artistic and perhaps most importantly, humanistic exploration and

Volunteer Services
The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is supported by a caring volunteer
staff made up of community members dedicated to the mission of
helping those in need. Pastoral care, patient friend, recreational
therapy, and clerical aide volunteers are just some of those whose
assistance greatly impact the hospital's ability to best serve our
patients and their families. Partners in Life, a non-profit
dedicated to improving the lives of those with HIV/AIDS, further
provides education, support and comfort to many in the Lemuel

Methadone Assistance Treatment Program (MAT)
This program provides clinically appropriate, high
quality, methadone treatment for opiate-addicted injection drug
users, giving them the chance to begin and continue a successful
recovery. Together with the Roxbury Comprehensive Community Health
Center, the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is able to address the problem
of substance abuse, offer primary care services and work to stop the
spread of HIV among substance abusers. The MAT program contact

Living
and Recovering
Community (LARC)
The Living and Recovering Community is a 30 to 90 day
intensive residential program which offers comprehensive substance
abuse stabilization and case management/housing search services for
men and women living with HIV/AIDS who are in recovery. Managed by
Victory Programs, LARC provides mental health services, substance
abuse services, transitional housing, HIV/AIDS education, and
